Sounds simple, right?
For years, I struggled with chronic acid reflux and gut issues. Endless burping. Not fun. I bounced around different fixes, never finding anything that stuck.
Then I stumbled upon Ayurvedic medicine. A deeply complex subject so lets keep it simple. After a retreat, I realized the biggest take aways where to have warm food & drinks. Stay away from cold ones and start tongue scraping. (haha)
So, I started microwaving a cup of water every morning (I cringe thinking of it now!).
But that was the magic. It was consistent.
Before, I'd wake up and always do something different. Never sticking with anything.
This stuck.
It wasn't the water itself (though Ayurvedic principles highlight the benefits of warm water for digestion). It was the snowball effect of consistency. I felt slightly better & that tiny win motivated me to add another. One habit stacked upon another.
Now? My mornings are sacred.
Alarm: A gentle bird chirp (yes, they still make alarm clocks!). My phone? Parked across the house, on Do Not Disturb, since 8 pm the night before. I first realized I could charge my phone outside my room in college.
Nourishment: A hot cup of bone broth, with warm water on the side.
Presence: Journal and 3 pages waiting to be written.
Connection: A furry meditation buddy (followed by their impatient sibling wanting to go outside).
Nature: I walk around the neighborhood phone-less, with a warm beverage, and listen to the birds.
It's a far cry from microwaved water. But it all started there.
The takeaway?
One spark can light a whole fire.
It's not about overnight transformation, it's about consistent action. Focus on the little additions to your life.
Here are some actionable steps you can start today:
Charge Your Phone Outside The Bedroom: Reclaim your mornings. No more doom scrolling first thing. Create a habit that allows you to be present for the first part of your day.
Get Something Warm & Nourishing In Your Body: Before coffee, before anything else. Bone broth, warm water with lemon, herbal tea. Something to kickstart your metabolism.
Ground Yourself: Meditate, stretch, or simply sit in silence. Be present.
Get Outside: Even for 5 minutes. Connect with nature. Feel the sun.
Plan Your Day Before Touching Your Phone: Set your intentions. Write out your top priorities. Execute.
Small actions, BIG impact.
Start with one. Stay consistent. The rest will follow, or you can try again another time.
What's one small, consistent action you're going to take this week?
Already here? Reflect on how you got to this point and recognize your growth and love for yourself.
That’s all for now, my loves — keep an eye out for next Friday’s letter to kick off your weekend with intention, inspiration, and a little bit of magic.
